Madarame Ikkaku

About:
Ikkaku is a strong soul reaper who is part of the 11th Division. Unfortunately for him, Ichigo learned his attack patterns quick, and defeated him. But he was quite lucky as well because Ichigo was nice enough to use the medicine on both of them. Later Ikkaku tells Kenpachi about Ichigo's strength, and when they are both beaten they find Orihime (and he thinks she's cute) but doesn't know that she's not really a soul reaper.

Appearance:
Ikkaku, unlike his partner, has no hair. At the edge of his eyes are 2 red blobs, which could be considered a marking, or a tattoo, even make-up!

Power:
His zanpakutou, Hozukimaru, can change from sword to a spear. He might look like an idiot, but he's actually very smart. Inside the stealth of his sword is some medicine that stops blood from continuously coming out of a wound.

During the Arrancar arc, Ikkaku is sent to the human world along with a few others. At the start of his visit, he is forced to fight one of Grimmjow's partners. The battle started out okay, because Ikkaku was just itching for a fight; fighting for fun because he enjoyed it. Eventually he had to release his bankai which turned Hozukimaru into a three weapon zanpakutou - a spear, an axe or Monk's spade, and a giant blade.

Ikkaku's bankai, known as Ryumon Hozukimaru, allowed him greater power which let him cut through an Arrancar's flesh. To finish off his final attack, Ikkaku spun his weapon above his head which lead the dragon on the giant blade to slowly fill with a red colour. This meant that Hozukimaru was awakening to allow its full power to be used. Although Ikkaku's bankai holds no special defence or offence, he's able to hit with more power as his time with his bankai continues.
