Kaien is brother to Kuukaku and Ganju. He was a great shinigami who was part of the Gotei 13 and co-captain of team 13th Division. He had a wife who was part of the team as well. He was also a mentor in Rukia's eyes. He died trying to avenge his honour for himself and his wife's death but was taken over by a hollow. Rukia had no choice but to kill him (and the hollow) to save him.
Appearance:
Spiky black hair, he resembles Ichigo a lot as well.
Power:
The name of his zanpakutou is Nejibana, and he used it with honour and pride in his fight against the hollow that took over him. The power that Nejibana holds is unknown.
