The Healing Ninja's Pupil

From a very brief examination, Sakura concludes that the poison is a type that gets into a person's muscles and destroys the cells. She then asks for his medical chart and the Suna medics hand it over but tell her that there are still blank spots. Sakura goes over the possibilities of Kankuro's survival through the treatment, and decides to take drastic measures to try and save him. After preparing some buckets of liquid, she asks the medics, Baki and Temari to hold Kankuro down while she extracts the poison.

Using her chakra, she brings up blobs of the green liquid and slowly presses it into Kankuro. Focusing, Sakura absorbs the poison into the ball, pulls out the ball and deposits the liquid back into the bucket. As this process continues with a new bucket of the same liquid, Naruto and Kakashi have a talk outside in the hallway on a bench. Naruto asks Kakashi about the White Fang, and in turn Kakashi says the White Fang could be best described as his father. Chiyo is beyond surprised to hear this from Kakashi, but Ebizou isn't because Kakashi is "the spitting image" of the White Fang.

After the treatment, Sakura announces that Kankuro's life is no longer in danger which relieves Temari. However, some poison is still in his body, and Sakura is going to make an antidote for it. She continues her medic mode by asking for a list of herbs in the village, and ordering for them to dump the liquid but save some of the poison. After the medics disappear to do what Sakura says, Chiyo says that Sakura is a lot like Tsunade. In turn, Sakura tells this elder that she is the apprentice of Tsunade herself. Their conversation ends when a medic returns with a list of all the herbs in Suna.

A while after that, Baki comes by with a message for Kakashi from the Hokage. After telling Naruto about the message, they go in to visit Kankuro because she's regained consciouness. Kankuro starts off by asking about his puppets. Meanwhile Sakura and the other medics are in the green house. Despite the small amounts, it's enough to make a good amount of antidote. Back in the hospital, Kankuro explains that he managed to grab a piece of Sasori's cloth with his puppet. Kakashi special summons his dogs to sniff out the Akatsuki whereabouts.

Chiyo turns to Kankuro and asks him to confirm it one more time that he wasn't mistaken that the Akatsuki member he fought was Sasori. Back in the green house, Sakura was finally finished the antidote and they've tested it out to be a success. She returns back to hospital with the antidote in the form of a drink and asks Kankuro to drink it all. She then, as a medic, orders him to rest until his body stops trembling. As Kankuro looks down at his hand, he recalls the words Gaara told him that day about what he wanted to achieve. Kankuro looks at Naruto and asks him to take care of his brother. Naruto guarantees that he will because he will become Hokage one day.
